Legal Chain: Building Legal AI Around Trust
AI drafts the contract in minutes. Attorneys own the judgment, biometrics prove who signed, and the blockchain proves nothing changed.

Legal AI has a speed problem solved and a trust problem wide open. Tools can now draft a contract in seconds, but a fast draft is only useful if people can rely on it, prove it hasn't changed, and know who actually signed it.
Legal Chain was built around that gap. Our thesis is simple: AI should do the heavy lifting, licensed humans should stay accountable for the judgment calls, and every finished agreement should carry proof of its own integrity. Here's where we are today, and where we're headed.
What we've built
Legal Chain's core platform is live today in all 50 U.S. states, with a free tier that needs no credit card. Describe your deal in plain English, and the AI drafts a jurisdiction-aware agreement in under two minutes, drawing on more than 50 million legal data points.
The live product covers the full front half of a contract's life:
Drafting across 20+ document types, from NDAs and MSAs to founder agreements and IP assignments.
Review and risk scoring that explains every clause in plain language and flags one-sided terms, auto-renewal traps, and missing provisions.
Comparison and redlining that shows exactly what the other side changed between versions.
A secure workspace with AES-256 encryption at rest and in transit, aligned with GDPR and CCPA.
Early beta users span medical clinics, a law firm, sports, design, and home services. That range matters: Legal Chain is built for the freelancer reading a contract at midnight as much as for the in-house team handling hundreds.
The human element: attorneys and paralegals in the loop
AI drafts; people decide. Legal Chain is software, not a law firm, and we designed the platform so a licensed professional is always one step away when the stakes call for it.
Today, users can order an attorney review of up to 15 pages with a 24–48 hour turnaround, or find a vetted local lawyer through our free Global Lawyer Finder, which covers 15 practice areas and charges no referral fees.
The next step makes that oversight systematic. Our human-in-the-loop workflow, now in development, gives every clause a confidence score. High-confidence language moves forward, while low-confidence clauses are automatically routed to an attorney or paralegal for review and sign-off before the document is finalized. Every decision lands in a searchable audit log.
For attorneys, this flips the job. Instead of writing first drafts from scratch, they spend their time on the clauses that actually need legal judgment. Paralegals become the quality layer that keeps AI output honest at scale.
Blockchain: proof that a contract hasn't changed
A PDF can be edited after the fact. A blockchain record can't. When a contract is finalized, Legal Chain creates a SHA-256 fingerprint of the document and anchors it to a public ledger, producing a permanent, timestamped proof that this exact version existed at this exact moment.
We're building two tiers of anchoring. Polygon, a low-cost Ethereum layer-2 network, makes everyday notarization practical at around $0.10 per document. Ethereum mainnet anchoring is reserved for agreements where maximum permanence is worth a higher fee.
Crucially, verification is open to anyone. A counterparty, auditor, or court doesn't need a Legal Chain account to confirm a document is authentic and untouched. The contract itself never goes on-chain, only its fingerprint, so confidentiality is preserved.
Biometrics: proof of who signed
Blockchain proves what was signed. Biometric-verified signing, now in development, proves who signed it.
When you sign on Legal Chain, you confirm with Face ID or Touch ID on iPhone, or the Android biometric prompt, with SMS or authenticator-app codes as a fallback. It runs on the same passkey standard (WebAuthn/FIDO2) that banks already rely on, which NIST recognizes as meeting Authenticator Assurance Level 2.
The privacy design is the point. Your face or fingerprint is matched inside your phone's secure hardware and never leaves the device. Legal Chain never receives or stores raw biometric data. What we get is a cryptographic confirmation, which is bound to the document's fingerprint and fed straight into the blockchain anchor.
The result is a single, tamper-evident record linking a verified signer to an unaltered document at a fixed point in time.
What's next
Our roadmap brings the three trust layers together into one workflow: draft with AI, validate with a human, sign with biometrics, anchor on-chain.
Human-in-the-loop review with per-clause confidence scoring and automatic routing to attorneys and paralegals.
Blockchain anchoring on Polygon and Ethereum, with public verification for anyone.
Biometric-verified signing with on-device Face ID and Touch ID.
Full audit logs recording every view, edit, export, and share.
Digital notary services, which we're exploring by pairing biometric identity with blockchain timestamps, pending a careful review of the legal framework.
New jurisdictions, starting with Europe, then Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
The legal industry doesn't need AI that is merely faster. It needs AI it can trust. That means machines doing the repetitive work, professionals owning the judgment, and every agreement carrying proof of what it says and who agreed to it. That's what Legal Chain is building.
