Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using AppBoard ("the Platform", "we", "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. AppBoard is a product discovery service where creators submit software products and community members discover, vote on, and engage with them.

2. Description of Service

AppBoard provides:

• A public leaderboard of software products ranked by a recency-weighted blend of community engagement (upvotes, saves, follows, ratings, click-throughs) and creator reputation.
• Tools for creators to submit, manage, and track their products.
• A voting system that lets community members support products they find valuable.
• Creator profiles that accumulate reputation across all submitted products.
• Optional paid promoted placements for additional visibility.

3. User Accounts

Account creation: you must provide a valid email address. We use passwordless OTP authentication. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure.

Account responsibilities: you must provide accurate information, keep your account credentials secure, and not share your account with others. You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent platform limits.

4. Product Submissions

Submission guidelines: submitted products must be real, functional software that you own or have rights to submit. All information (name, tagline, URL, screenshots) must be accurate and up to date.

Content standards: content must be appropriate for a general professional audience. We reserve the right to remove submissions that are misleading, offensive, or otherwise in violation of these terms.

Content ownership: you retain ownership of your submitted content. By submitting, you grant AppBoard a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and reproduce your content on the Platform, in notification emails to community members, and in the embeddable rating badge that you or others may place on third-party sites.

Review before publication: submissions are checked before going live and appear as "Waiting for publishing" until then. We may decline or remove a submission that does not meet these Terms.

AI prefill: if you use the optional prefill feature, we retrieve your submitted URL and send its public page content to a third-party AI provider to draft your listing. You are responsible for reviewing the generated text for accuracy and for confirming you hold the rights to the content submitted.

Prohibited categories include:

• Illegal products or services.
• Adult or explicit content.
• Hacking tools, malware, or software designed to harm others.
• Counterfeit goods or fraudulent schemes.
• Products that violate third-party intellectual property rights.

5. Prohibited Activities

• Using automated tools, bots, or scripts to cast votes or manipulate rankings.
• Creating fake accounts or coordinating inauthentic voting activity.
• Voting for your own products.
• Submitting false or misleading product information.
• Harassing other users or creators.
• Attempting to circumvent rate limits, IP restrictions, or other platform safeguards.

Violations may result in immediate account suspension and removal of associated products.

6. Intellectual Property

The AppBoard name, logo, platform design, and proprietary systems are owned by AppBoard and may not be copied or used without permission.

User-submitted content remains the property of the submitter. You represent that you have all necessary rights to the content you submit and that it does not infringe any third-party rights.

7. Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8. Service Availability

We do not guarantee 100% uptime. The Platform may be unavailable during maintenance or due to circumstances outside our control. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice for significant changes.

9. Paid Services

Promoted placements: paid promotion gives your product additional visibility in featured sections of the Platform, always labelled as sponsored. Promotion does not affect your organic ranking. Promotions run for a fixed window (one month unless stated otherwise) and are purchased self-serve by card at checkout.

Refunds: because a promotion begins immediately on purchase, payments are generally final and non-refundable, and we do not guarantee specific traffic or conversion outcomes. If we fail to deliver the agreed placement, we will refund it. Nothing here limits any statutory cancellation or refund rights you may have as a consumer under the law of your country of residence.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. AppBoard does not endorse any submitted products and is not responsible for the accuracy of user-submitted content.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AppBoard shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.

11. Termination

You may request deletion of your account at any time by emailing [email protected]; we will confirm and action the request. AppBoard may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, access to the Platform is revoked. Published product listings may remain in anonymised or aggregated form.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless AppBoard and its team from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform, your submitted content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law in the jurisdiction where AppBoard operates. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis. Class action lawsuits are not permitted.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated by updating the effective date. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
