About BenchSelf
BenchSelf publishes 18 browser self-tests covering reaction time, click speed, memory, hearing range, colour vision, peripheral vision and pointing hardware. They place your result in the population instead of just handing you a number: every ranked test shows the percentile, the device class the percentile was computed within, and what the comparison population actually is. 240 ms is either unremarkable or quick depending on whether you were on a mouse, a trackpad or a phone, so the device class is part of the result rather than a footnote. The methodology page lists where each baseline curve came from and which numbers are estimates. Everything runs in the browser - no account, no ads, nothing to buy.
✦ Good to know
- Runs five reaction time trials and uses the median result to reduce the effect of a single mistimed click.
- Ranks your result by percentile against a baseline split by mouse, trackpad, and touchscreen.
- The test is free and requires no sign up.
- Only simple reaction time is measured; choice reaction time is not tested.
