About Finance Simulator
Finance Simulator is a free Canadian personal finance planner. It takes you from your paycheque to retirement in five steps: Income, Budget, Invest, Retire and Summary. It covers all 13 provinces and territories, 2026 tax year, and there is no account and no paywall.
What it does
- Take-home pay after federal and provincial tax, CPP/QPP and EI, using real brackets instead of an average rate. Quebec paycheques are modelled exactly (QPP, QPIP, reduced EI, federal abatement).
- A budget that shows where the take-home goes and what is left to save.
- TFSA, RRSP and FHSA growth with 2026 contribution limits, including the RRSP tax refund.
- Retirement projections that include CPP and OAS, plus a Coast FIRE number: what you need invested today to stop contributing and still retire on time.
- Debt payoff, rent vs buy, and a one-page summary of your whole plan.
Why it is different
- Every tax and benefit constant (41 of them) is listed on a public methodology page with its official source and a confidence rating. The page is generated from the calculator's own code, so the two cannot disagree.
- Privacy, plainly: the numbers you type (salary, savings, balances) are never uploaded. The math runs in your browser and your plan stays on your device. The site does use basic analytics to count visits.
- Available in English and French.
- Designed and built solo by Chris Coffin in Montreal.
Limits: Canada only. These are planning estimates, not financial, tax or legal advice.
✦ Good to know
- Calculate take-home pay for every Canadian province and territory after tax, CPP, and EI.
- No account or sign-up required; all calculations run in your browser with no data leaving your device.
- Track TFSA, RRSP, and FHSA growth projections and see RRSP tax refund savings.
- Compare debt payoff methods (snowball vs. avalanche) and plan savings goals.
- Analyze rent versus buy decisions and whether to pay down mortgage or invest instead.
Taken from the product's own website and re-checked automatically.
